Thirty Years of Interweaving Environmental Law and Science

Meet Earl Hagström

With over 30 years of experience in environmental, citizen suit, and toxic tort litigation Earl is uniquely equipped to assist clients in solving the complex legal and scientific issues that arise in multi-party soil and groundwater contamination litigation. He is ranked in the top 5 percent of Northern California environmental attorneys and spent eight plus years working as a petroleum exploration and development supervisor for Phillips Petroleum and British Petroleum.

Earl earned his J.D. from the University of San Francisco in 1990 where he served as President and Public Program Director for the Environmental Law Society. In 1978 he graduated magna cum laude from the University of Rhode Island with a Master of Science degree in Sedimentation and Stratigraphy. In 1976 he earned a B.A. in geology from Boston University where he also Chaired Boston University’s delegation to the Harvard Model United Nations Program.

Earl is frequently invited to share his insights through public speaking engagements and published articles. Engagements and articles include legal and economic issues related to groundwater quality and contamination, CERCLA, RCRA and the Clean Water Act as well as PFOAs and PFASs and liabilities associated with reuse of produced water from oil and gas operations.

Earl has been a long suffering Boston Red Sox fan, suffering that was thankfully relieved in 2004 and a few more times since then.
